The grounds were well maintained and the setting was very quiet, The rooms were basic but clean.

It was not possible to have a shower as the showers in the shared bathrooms were either cold or boiling then cold. The breakfast was very basic with no imagination. WiFi is only available in the lobby.

Clean and comfortable room at a reasonable price. A previous reviewer commented on the manager taking money from her card while she was not present and putting the receipt under the door. This was offered to me as an option which I found convenient.

Roonm was not ensuite so expected shared shower to be good. Kept losing power and water was either freezing or to hot.

The price was competitive, the rooms were clean and a lot of the fixtures and furniture relatively new from Ikea. The Manager was friendly and helpful.

There are no facilities such as lounge, bar, catering except basic breakfast. There was a damp, musty smell about the place probably due to the age of the building.

It was a nice and quite hotel and not far from town and shopping, we were there for the university and it was not far away it was a good choice.

I had a beautiful suite -- with more closet space than even I could fill. I was sorely tempted to find a reason to use the elegant dressing room, but my stay was too short. The bathtub was worth the trip. The gardens are lovely, if slightly neglected. Breakfast was basic continental, but the dining room is clean and comfortable. Lovely old house, obviously well loved.

Location is safe and secure. Owners very pleasant and welcoming. Generally very clean and suitably warm. Staff friendly and accommodating. Lovely main building with history attached.

Two 'shared bathrooms' and neither shower worked properly in either. Water in the shower was cold and completely stopped at one stage for no reason. Breakfast is continental only but I'm sure it is advertised as this, I just didn't pick up on it and assumed a cooked breakfast option would be on offer. Beds are not very substantial so are not overly comfortable. I would have been happier to pay more money and have a room that didn't compromise on the basics. We booked based on loction not price. These are simple improvements that could easily be addressed by the owners to make this accommodation an excellent choice for people wanting to stay in this area.

Nice garden setting. Good easy parking well off the road. Free wi-fi works well. Good choices for the continental style breakfast. Hosts were courteous and unobtrusive. Seems to be a favourite with Hadrian's Wall walkers.

The walls in the bedrooms are very thin, so you hear everything going on next door.

This hotel has lovely grounds to wander in.

The lack of heat in the rooms and bathrooms was an issue, sorted out on day 3, by which time I had decided to leave. Bearing in mind that it is June and a really chilly one too, I would have expected some heating in the early morning and evening. They eventually gave me an electric heater and the radiator switched on. I was told other residents were too hot and opening thier windows.I Would only re-visit this hotel (because of the room prices) in the middle of a heatwave. Breakfast was adequate but bland.

No noisy guests = a good nights sleep!

English breakfast would be better, it's a nice treat when away from home, however there is a good continental breakfast

The bath in the room was really big, views were beautiful and the breakfast was very filling and good value, despite it being continental.

The bed was hard, uncomfortable and not long enough.

Excellent value. Large clean room with tea and coffee making facilities and a flat screen tv.

The tranquility, beautiful decor & grounds of the house, yet nearness to Newcastle City Centre/uni - easily accessible via public transport. Staff very unobtrusive, yet there if required. Plenty of breakfast choice. Room was beautifully clean, large, bright & airy. Kettle & complimentary tea/coffee in room always appreciated. Fab friendly, relaxed Italian restaurant 300 yds up the road - ate there two nights on trot. Makes a change to be able to walk to and from a restaurant without the need for a taxi.

Nothing really - possibly staff could be slightly more accessible. Only saw them at breakfast. If needed them you had to knock on their kitchen door, which although they didn't mind, just felt slightly intrusive. House is old though, which is part of its appeal, so no space for a proper reception anyway. Vague recollection of seeing a brass bell to ring in reception/hall. Bell would be a good idea if there isn't one.

Staff were very friendly and couldn't help us enough. Our room was the largest hotel room i have ever seen, very clean, brilliant location, brilliant price, excellent breakfast with lovely croissants - thoroughly recommend this hotel, just wished we stayed longer!

The room was lovely: large, bright, and luxurious.

It would be more relaxing if breakfast was served later, at least until 10.00.
